Responsibility! Our Policy on Pre-Paid Tickets

When a member is sponsoring an event, he takes the time (and puts out the cash) to secure the event for the members who signed up.

THE POSITIVE SIDE for the sponsor is locking-in an event. It's his contribution to the group so that continued friendships can occur.

THE NEGATIVE SIDE for the sponsor is having to call and confirm with the members who signed up, to make sure the time, place and cost are clear to everyone. When, suddenly, 2 days before the event, someone cancels with no apparent reason, it puts the sponsor in an awkward position to try and collect the money - or find a replacement for the vacated spot.

We're a club that depends on its members to keep to their commitments and responsibilities. Let's keep the club and the reason we all joined it on a level that's fair and honest.

Let me break it down for the ESL students in the bunch. What we are trying to say is this: When we have an event that involves pre-paid tickets someone, usually the sponsor, has to buy those tickets in advance. Tickets can range from $40 for Beach Blanket to $65 for Cabaret. Even guys who went to a public school in California can do the math. Buying 10-20 tickets can mean $650 - $1300 on someone's credit card, not counting interest. That's a TON-O' MOOLA! So, when you commit to an event and the sponsor buys a ticket for you, that's your ticket! Even if you haven't handed over the cash yet, it is understood that you will. If you can't attend, it is your responsibility to find someone to sell your ticket to, not the sponsor's, even though he would most likely be willing to help you to sell it. If this becomes more of a problem guess what? We'll have more "private" events with sponsors simply inviting their more trustworthy friends in the group and a lot of people will miss out on the chance to see some great shows and events.
